Having said that, it’s best to expect colder weather and more rainfall during the months of December, January and February. If beaches are not so important to you, then you can visit Santa Cruz at any time. You can sunbathe there all year long, though. If you’d like to spend time at Las Teresitas beach, then ideally plan to visit between June and November. The luxury Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey is also great but a bit farther away. We loved staying in Hotel Principe Paz – the location is unbeatable. Where to Stay: Our favourite part of the city is the historic centre, between Plaza de España and Plaza Weyler. But the best time to visit is in February when the famous carnival is held.
